WATER

The problem with the scarcity of water in Mali primarily affects the rural zones due to access difficulties. Consumption of unsanitized water leads to a high mortality rate due to illnesses such as: pneumonia, typhus, typhoid fever or cholera among others. The water wells are located very far away from the village, which leads to women and girls having to travel more than 15 km each day transporting heavy weights.


The House of Mali has constructed different types of water wells destined to different functions. This has been possible thanks to various financers such as the Núria García Foundation. Studies regarding the possibility of collection deposits of fluvial water, situated in 2 solar points to reutilize the water for:

  • An irrigation system through channels.
  • Cleaning
  • Purifying the water from the deposits through an algae system for personal hygiene and cooking.
  • Direct extraction of water from the subsoil through water wells located for every 3 nuclear families and in general installations.
  • Water retention rafts - clay lime backgrounds.


Construction of WATER WELLS

We initiated the “Living Self-Sufficiently and Sustainably” Project to solve the urgency necessity: access to water. Access to potable water is fundamental to leaving the cycle of poverty and illnesses. The inhabitants of these zones consume contaminated water and develop, especially children, different illnesses related to diarrhea and deadly infestations.


This project covers 8 of the 17 Sustainable Development Objectives (SDO), represents an important impulse to reduce illnesses, better everyone’s health and allows the inhabitants of Djelibani have access to potable water and sanitation networks.

Gas and Electricity

Studies regarding the possibility of Biogas Projects to obtain electric energy and gas to cook.

  • Photovoltaic Solar Panels for the production of electric energy located on the roof of communal spaces and workshop spaces.
  • Obtaining biofuels through the Jatropha plan to later transform it to electric energy.
